SUBURBAN LEAGUE PRESEASON TOURNAMENT

The Suburban League’s American and National conferences held its preseason tournaments at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley on Tuesday, with Medina Highland earning the championship in the American Conference and Hudson earning the victory in the National Conference.

Aurora fired the runner-up score behind the runner-up medalist Jackson Sarver (80). Sarver was aided by Brady Allenick (82), Dylan Lancaster (83) and Tyler Statham and Blake Sadd each carding 91.

Kent Roosevelt’s boys team finished fourth (342). Deacon Smith carded the best score for the Rough Riders (81), then followed by Jaxon Turner (82), Jack Flynn (86) and Owen Puhalla (93).

This is the first of four tournaments for the Suburban League during the fall that determines the league championship and individual honors.

GIRLS GOLF

ROOTSTOWN 201, HUDSON (B) 236

The Rootstown Rovers traveled to Ellsworth Meadows in Hudson to take on the Hudson varsity B team at the Explorers’ home course.

Ava Miller earned medalist honors, carding a 44 for Rootstown, followed by Morgan Giebel (48), Camryn Lappe (52) and Charlie Wilson (52).

Hudson’s best was fired by Lily Buynak and Annie Lawrence, both carding 56s.

Rootstown improves to 2-1 overall.

METRO ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PRESEASON TOURNAMENT

The Streetsboro Rockets fired a 411, just eight strokes shy of the champion Cloverleaf (403), at the Metro Athletic Conference Preseason Tournament at Pine Valley Golf Club in Wadsworth.

Streetsboro’s Sarah Czirok (98), Claire Campbell (101), Emma Chamberlain (104) and Aryana Puleo (108) all finished in the top 10 of the tournament, but Cloverleaf, led by medalist Quinn Malarkey (91), had too much depth for the Rockets.
