High School Golf Roundup: Southeast girls continue early season roll

In her second back-to-back under-par match score, Sammy Morgan led all golfers for Southeast and against Springfield and Garfield, firing a 1-under-par 35. Jessi Mix added a 41 for the Pirates in their match victory over the two visiting schools: Southeast 165, Springfield 183 and Garfield 215.

The G-Men’s best was fired by Addison Snyder (45) and the Spartans saw a pair of 45s carded by Gabi Marshall and Kadence Warford.

The Pirates improved their record to an undefeated 4-0.

 

STREETSBORO GIRLS BEAT COPLEY

STREETSBORO’S SARAH CZIROK

The Rockets found their new home, the Fairways at Twin Lakes, a great place to score as they beat Copley 208 to 214.

The Rockets’ Sarah Czirok led the home team’s effort, carding a 50, with Claire Campbell adding a 51, Arianna Jacobs a 52 and Hazel Schoenherr a 53 for the consistent scoring of the home team.

Copley’s best was fired by Anna Yacknow, a 51.

 

SOUTHEAST BOYS ROLL

The Southeast Pirates bested MVAC Grey Division rival Champion 153 to 183 at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course.

It was a dominating day for the Pirates.

James Morgan started out the team with an even-par round of 36, with Cole Bruno adding a 37, freshman Logan Blankenship firing a 39 and Alex Peelish finishing out the scoring for the Pirates, shooting a 41.

The best on the fairways for Champion was Derrick Campbell, a 6-over-par 42.

This improves Southeast’s record to 3-0 in the MVAC and 3-1 overall. Champion is 2-3 in the MVAC.

 

ROVERS FALL TO KIRTLAND

Despite a second-best score of 41 in the match by the Rovers’ Nathan Waesch, Rootstown dropped a CVC varsity golf match to Kirtland 167 to 184.

Following Waesch, Rootstown’s Caleb Stevens fired a 45 and a pair of 49s were carded by Sam Klem and Troy Kopac at St. Denis Golf Club.

Kirtland’s best was carded by Sammy Ridgeway, a 3-over-par 39.

Rootstown is now 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the CVC league. Kirtland is 2-1 and 1-0.

 

VIKES DROP MVAC MATCH TO JACKSON-MILTON

The Waterloo Vikings traveled to Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course to tackle Jackson-Milton at the Bluejays’ home course, with Jackson-Milton besting the Vikes 185 to 200.

Waterloo’s Trevor Flarida led all Viking golfers, firing a 46 on the Par-36 fairways of Olde Dutch.

Jackson-Milton’s Colton Elliot earned medalist honors, carding a 3-over-par 39.

Waterloo now owns a 0-6 record overall and in the league. Jackson Milton improved to 4-1, 3-1.

 

ROCKETS VICTORIOUS

Mill Creek was the site of the match between Streetsboro and Canfield with the Rockets winning 173 to 188 and improving their record to 7-1 overall.

Brett Epple and Dom Maccini each carded 42, 7-over-par, to earn medalist honors and lead the Rockets to victory.
