Leading the way, James Morgan set his own school record, firing a tremendous 4-under 31 to set a new individual school-record score.

The rest of the team had scores to be proud of, too, for the Pirates: Cole Bruno 38, Ethan Shodd 37, and Owen Dombroski 35, with Alex Peelish adding a 41 and Shade Stevens a 44.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this team,” said Mike Jenior, coach of the Pirates. “There have been a lot of great Pirate golf teams over the years so this score speaks volumes about the capabilities of this group. We are honestly feel like we are just getting started.

“James’ score today was tremendous, but if you ask him, he will tell you he left a few strokes out there, which says a lot about his ambition,” said the coach. “He is always pushing himself harder, and he lifts the entire team trough his focus and drive. He is our leader, not only by score, but through example every time he walks on the course.”

Southeast travels Tuesday to the Springfield hosted Northeast Ohio Invitational at Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
