The Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference held its boys and the girls championship tournaments at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville on Saturday.

The Garfield girls earned the tournament championship by a decisive 642 pins over runner-up LaBrae.

The Southeast girls earned third, just missing second place by 23 pins.

The All-Tournament Team was dominated by Portage County individuals.

Joy Justice earned medalist honors, tossing a 623 high series for the Garfield girls.

Of the eight high series, five were from Garfield and one from Southeast.

Emily Morrison, a member of the Pirates, rolled a 506 series, good for top three followed by Garfield bowlers Sierra Foy (501), Alexis Phillips (485), Makenna Guyette (458) and Bella Wright (452).

It is a continuation of the season for Garfield as the team has already qualified for the OHSAA Division II district tournament.

For the boys, Garfield earned sixth place of the 10 teams in the MVAC Tournament.

The boys were led by Jordan Portman, bowling a high game of 201 on his way to a 524 series.
