The Greater Akron Basketball Coaches Association will host its annual All-Star Game on Tuesday at Medina Highland High School.

The night includes a pair of games, with the Underclassmen All-Star Game scheduled for 6 p.m. and the Senior Game scheduled to follow.

In the Underclassmen Game, Portage County will have four players competing.

On the White Team, which will be coached by Nordonia boys basketball head coach Dominique Sanders, who is a former head coach for the Field boys team, will be Southeast junior Garrett Sprutte.

On the Dark Team, which will be coached by Revere head coach Dean Rahas, will be Garfield sophomore Preston Gedeon, Crestwood sophomore Dekota Johnson and Kent Roosevelt junior Tyrel Ellington.

In the Senior Game, two Portage County standouts were invited.

Both will play on the White Team led by Ravenna head coach Marlon Jones.

The duo includes Windham’s Chase Eye and Ravenna’s Mason Ross.

In addition to the games, retired Windham boys basketball coach Marty Hill will be inducted into the GABCA Hall of Fame.

Hill retired at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, ending a spectacular 47-year career that included 694 wins (ranks 7th all-tinme in Ohio history), 13 league championships, 22 sectional titles, 15 district crowns and three trips to the state’s Final Four.

The numbers justify his standing as one of the greatest coaches in Ohio high school history, but his impact went beyond the basketball court as a mentor, father figure and trusted friend to hundreds of players.
