TEAM OUTLOOK

Offensively, the Greenmen will still work to maintain a balanced attack, but have made it a priority to play inside-out more this season than they have previously.

On defense, they will primarily run a half court man-to-man, while occasionally mixing in some zone looks.

WE HAVE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON IF…

“If we are able to have balanced scoring throughout our lineup, take care of the ball and guard at a high level throughout the game,” coach Cody Calhoun said.

GUARDS

There is experience and athleticism, with Josh Harrell, Johnny Trivisonno and Luke Hilditch leading the way.

Harrell averaged just over 6 points per game last year and enters his third season as a starter.

“He will have the ball in his hands more than in year’s past, but he will still be counted on to score while also creating for others.”

Trivisonno is one of the team’s leading returning scorers after posting 8 points per game last year.

“Johnny is very athletic and can do a lot of different things on both ends of the floor.”

Hilditch’s role will expand this year, returning after a sophomore season as a role player.

“He can provide scoring in different ways, as well as being an active defender.

Max Keyes, a junior, is a new varsity rotation player, who worked hard in the off-season to become stronger and develop his overall game.

Senior Trenton Page and freshman Connor McLendon are two more who add depth to the backcourt.

“Trenton brings toughness, leadership and depth. He has the ability to make open shots off catch-and-shoot,” Calhoun said. “Connor can have a big impact in our rotation this year with his ability to score the ball. He is still getting adjusted to the speed of the varsity game compared to eighth grade, but he has already shown flashes of what he can do.”

FORWARDS

Senior Luke Bonnette is a returning starter, who averaged 5 points per game a year ago. He showed his potential for an expanded role by scoring in double-digits in the team’s final five games last year.

Gui Goedert, a junior, is another returning letterman who will be a big part of the rotation.

“He will play more on the perimeter this year, and he can play point guard one possession, then  forward the next, depending on matchups.”

Nate Davis is a senior who is a very good shooter, and according to Calhoun, spent the summer working hard to develop other parts of his game.

Jacoby Shadle is a junior who is expected to have a chance for an expanded role, along with Jack Rachel.

“Jacoby has strength and toughness. He is willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. Jack is a slashing forward, who is just scratching the surface of what he can be as a varsity player. He has a very active motor that goes nonstop.”

UNDERCLASSMEN TO WATCH

CAUSE FOR CONCERN

“We have some returning experience, but they will all be in different roles than previously. We will have to rely on our returning guys to lead us while our newcomers get adjusted to varsity basketball.”

LEAGUE OUTLOOK

“Going into the year, there isn’t a clear-cut favorite in the league. Revere has been the most consistent program over the last decade, so they will likely be in the middle of it all.”
