Portage County bowlers competing at the Tri-County Sectional at Spins Lanes on Friday demonstrated their strength as many will continue their bowling season, advancing to the Division II District.
The Rootstown Rovers qualified as a team to the district that will be held at Rebman Lanes in Lorain on Feb. 23.
Leading the Rovers was Nick Moorehead, tossing a 603 series with a high game of 210.
Individuals advancing include Ravenna’s Jacob Stefansic, who bowled his way to the top spot in the event, rolling a 701 series with a high game of 279.
Daniel Mcle, of Garfield, scored a 680 high series and Joey Dilworth, of Field, gave the Falcons their first-ever district qualifier in the school’s first year sponsoring the sport of bowling.
Dilworth found his mark for a 648 series, with a high game of 245.
Excitement at the end of the tournament was created by Triway and Woodridge, in a tie after three-team games and six Baker games. A ninth and 10th frame roll-off resulted in Triway grabbing the fourth and final spot, advancing as a team to the Division II District.
