Boys Bowling: Falcons place seventh at Division II district tourney

The Field Falcons varsity boys bowling team concluded an outstanding season at the D2 OHSAA District Tournament.

Rebman Lanes in Lorain was the host of the D2 District that included not only the Field Falcons boys team, Rootstown individuals and the Springfield Spartans team.

The Falcons finished seventh, just outside of the top four advancing teams to state by 301 pins. The Spartans finished 11th in the event.

The Falcons’ best was rolled by junior Peyton Hover, in a tie for 17th place as an individual, bowling a high game of 220 on his way to a 601 series, just 38 pins out of qualifying as an individual for state.

The rest of the team competing at District included Kalel Holmes 192-546, Joey 107 Dilworth 191-506, Benny Frampton 195-526 and Brayden Burnett 203-505. The team includes two seniors, one junior, a sophomore and a freshman.

The Springfield Spartans landed in 12th place and the Rootstown Rovers’ individuals, Caleb Stevens191-526 and Tycho Smolk 191-514, fired 526 and 514 respectively and finished in the top 60 out of 107 bowlers.

The girls teams compete in the D2 District at Rebman Lanes on Saturday including the Rootstown and Garfield girls teams, Zoey Lemasters of Ravenna and Madison Knox of Springfield.

TEAM FOUR QUALIFYING TEAMS: Coventry 4,212; Fairport Harding 4,136; Champion 4,101; Lake Catholic 4,093.

QUALIFYING INDIVIDUALS: Tristan Roberts, Lake Center Christian 667; T.J. Williams, Chalker 657; Luke Carey, Triway 650; Adam Cowper, Brooklyn 639.

7th FIELD (3,792): Peyton Hover 601, Kalel Holmes 546, Joey Dilworth 506, Benny Frampton 526, Brayden Burnett 505.

12th SPRINGFIELD (3,714): Josiah Thompson 540, Dylan Wilson 506, Nathan Meyer 495, Ryan Slusser 597, Carson Shook 183-159, Sub game 149.

ROOTSTOWN INDIVIDUALS: Caleb Stevens 191-526; Tycho Smolk 191-514.
