The 104th Pyramid Treating Ohio Open hosted by the Northern Ohio PGA at Firestone Country Club drew more than 250 golfers registered for the event.
The top 50 and ties teed off on the famed Firestone South Course on Wednesday to determine the champion.
As the tournament finished in the late afternoon on a beautiful day in Akron, Will Grimmer of Cincinnati distanced himself from the field by two strokes, firing a final day total of 4-under-par for a three-day total of 198.
Grimmer’s score was a remarkable 14-under, with three 66s to his credit.
The 25-year-old has been competing on the Korn Ferry Tour following his college golf career at Ohio State University.
Nathan Tarter, former standout on the Mogadore High School and Malone University golf teams, made his climb up the leaderboard on the final day.
Tarter, who had an amateur career to be proud of at both Mogadore and Malone, made a leap up the leaderboard by 10 spots into a tie for sixth place, firing an even-par round on Wednesday.

Tarter’s three rounds placed him at a 6-under overall, with 18-hole scores of 68-68-70 on the tough Firestone fairways.
Dillon Pendergast, another one-time Mogadore High School standout, who is currently playing for Cleveland State University, moved up the leaderboard six spots while playing the South Course. Earning 39th, Pendergast fired rounds of 67-73-73 to finish 3-over.
Liam Curtis of Kent, a recent graduate of Kent Roosevelt on his way to play for Kent State University this fall, ran into trouble on just a few holes, but still fired a 77 for the day on the South Course. He added that effort to his previous rounds o 65 and 72 for a 214 total.
