The Garfield G-Men have been the class of the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference this season.

And they proved it once again on Friday night.

With a resounding 56-7 victory over Crestview, the G-Men captured the MVAC’s Grey Division championship.

Garfield is now 9-0 overall and 6-0 in league play with Week 10’s matchup at home against Brookfield still to play.

Friday’s win over Crestview, secured the title, with no other team able to changed that in Week 10.

It has been a dominating league season for the G-Men, who are averaging a margin of victory of 41.5 points.

The team’s 6-0 record has come from triumphs over LaBrae (42-13), Champion (64-0), Campbell Memorial (61-0), Liberty (42-21), Newton Falls (49-14) and Crestview (56-7).

The Rebels had actually entered Friday’s showdown with Garfield on a four-game win streak, which the G-Men loudly turned away.

On Friday, Garfield jumped out to a 28-7 lead after the first quarter, then pushed the advantage out to 42-7 at the break.

Quarterback Eric Geddes rushed five times for 119 yards and three touchdowns and completed 3-of-4 passes for 139 yards and two more touchdowns.

Keegan Sell rushed for 97 yards on just nine carries, scoring two touchdowns on the ground, then adding another through the air on a 59-yard reception.

Leo Grandizio caught Geddes’ second score, coming on a 67-yard hookup.

Garfield rushed for 349 yards as a team.

Garfield hosts Brookfield in Week 10. The Warriors will enter the game at 5-4.
