For once, things went Field’s way.

In a season filled with heartbreaking losses, short by inches and just simply bad luck, the Falcons finally found themselves on the other end of things.

It took until Week 8, but a close game went their way in a thrilling 25-20 comeback win at Coventry on Friday night.

The Comets led 12-0 after the first quarter and 20-7 by halftime.

That is when Field turned things around. The Falcons scored a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to make it 20-19 heading into the fourth quarter.

After traded possessions, the Falcons got the ball with 2:11 remaining on their own 27 with one timeout left.

Field marched down the field and eventually got the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard run by Drexal McAmis with only 18 seconds left in the game.

McAmis’ score gave Field its only lead of the game, 25-20, and the team went for two, but failed.

The ending did not come without some controversy, however.

Coventry had the ball on approximately the Field 43 with 11 seconds left.

The Comets completed a pass on an underneath route that the Falcons eventually tackled the ball-carrier down at the 35. However, the clock had never been started and the referees awarded Coventry one final play with 1 second remaining.

On the final play of the game, Robert Atha sacked the quarterback to end the game, however, the quarterback not thinking he had been downed, popped back up and threw the ball into the end zone to an open receiver.

Comets players rushed onto the field to celebrate what they thought had been the victory, while Field was simultaneously celebrating before the lead official signaled that the Coventry quarterback had, in fact, been down by contact on the play before the throw.

Field has been in a series of close games this season, with four of its games coming down to the last drives of the game.
