The Windham Bombers waited two weeks for this.

After a long list of injuries forced the program to cancel its Week 3 matchup, the Bombers then had to wait an extra in Week 4 to get back into action, playing on Saturday instead of Friday like the majority of teams.

The wait was worth it, though.

Windham used a 22-point first quarter to jumpstart an offensive explosion in a 50-12 road victory over St. John.

First-quarter scores for the Bombers were by Lucas Churchill on a 14-yard pass from Chase Eye, a 1-yard touchdown run by Jack Eye and a 62-yard game breaker by Chase Eye.

St. John tried to keep pace in the first quarter by scoring 12 points, but they never scored again the rest of the game.

And Windham did.

The Bombers took a 30-12 halftime lead on a second-quarter touchdown when Chase Eye found Churchill through the air for a second time. This one was from six yards out.

Windham continued to extend its lead with two touchdowns in the third quarter: Chase Eye’s third touchdown pass, this one to his younger brother Jack from 25 yards out, then a 10-yard run by Trent Brown.

Windham’s final touchdown in the game came in the fourth quarter, with Jack Eye running it in from 15 yards.

For the game, Windham rushed for 312 yards on 28 carries (11.1 yards per carry average).

Chase Eye led the attack with 174 yards on only nine carries. Jack Eye used eight attempts to rush for 65 yards, while Carlos Bruton (6 carries, 48 yards) and Trent Brown (4 carries, 25 yards) also contributed.

As quarterback, Chase Eye completed 9-of-17 passes for 139 yards and two more touchdowns.

The win is Windham’s first of the year, improving to 1-2 overall. The Bombers will travel to face St. Thomas Aquinas in Week 5 next Friday.
