The Waterloo High School girls soccer team celebrated history on Monday night.

The Vikings’ 6-2 victory at Crestview secured the first league championship in girls soccer program history.

It has been a season filled with success, with the triumph lifting the Vikes’ overall season record to 14-0-1 and 12-0-1 in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Scarlet Division.

Monday’s win included another hat trick for junior standout Kaira English, who lifted her season total to 42 goals. Rose Couts and Olivia Boyle also added goals for Waterloo, which built a 5-1 lead at halftime.

A pair of English’s first-half goals were assisted, with Sydney Jackson and Couts setting her up, while English had the assist on Couts’ first-half goal.

In the second half, Boyle’s goal was assisted again by Jackson, who now has 21 assists on the year.

The Waterloo girls soccer team received spotlight treatment by Portage Sports last week with a highlight feature on the group’s historic season in a story that can be viewed here.
