If you haven’t noticed, golf courses are busy.

High-school golf has started, collegiate golf teams are practicing and getting ready for tournaments and league play is continuing on a march toward the end of the season.

All of that coupled with outings and scrambles makes for filled tee sheets at area facilities.

That’s a good thing after the brief rush to close courses several years ago.

Golf has enjoyed a resurgence.

All of us have a home course and it becomes very comfortable to play.

Those are the best times, playing with the familiar group on Sunday mornings or Tuesday nights.

Walk into the golf course clubhouse and many of us know most of the people eating or preparing to go play nine holes.

Golf is a unique sport.

Golfers are not trying to beat their opponent.

They are attempting to beat the course, score better than their own lowest score or own their first under-par round.

As you read this, I hope you have your next round of golf planned with family and friends or are planning a family day at the golf course.

A FUN EVENT

If you haven’t played golf at night, you have not experienced all of the fun aspects of golf.

The Fairways at Twin Lakes will host Night Golf No. 4 on Sept. 14.

Registration is $220 per foursome and includes nine holes of golf (walking only), glow golf balls, prizes, pizza and drinks.

Call the pro shop at the golf course (330-673-7888) to reserve a foursome for the fun event.

FALL JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE

Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton, home of the Southeast Pirates, will again host the Fall Junior Golf League beginning Sept. 8 and continuing through Oct. 13 (each Sunday at 4 p.m.).

Recommended for ages 6 to 14, the program includes: on-course instruction from U.S. Kids Instructor and Olde Dutch Mill Professional Mike Jenior; fun drills and competitions to give junior golfers skills and knowledge of the game and nine-holes of golf each week.

Prizes are given out each week and an end of the season banquet and prize raffle is held on Oct. 13.

Parents are encouraged to either watch or caddy each week and spend time on the golf course with their junior golf.

Registration is $150. To register, call 330-654-4100.
