Since the last Par for the Course column, the Northern Ohio PGA hosted multiple tournaments at four sites around northeast Ohio as junior golfers of all ages continue to impress with their abilities and scores.

At the sites of the NOPGA junior tournaments, golfers competed in the Collegiate Series for men and women 18 to 22, the Junior Series in several divisions ranging in age 11 to 19 and the Futures Tour in several divisions ages 8 to 16.

The best finish by local golfers was Makenna Ward, of Kent, at Mill Creek in the Futures Tour. Ward won the event, firing a 42 in the girls 12 to 16 age division.

Nathan Kinter, of Rootstown, earned the runner-up spot at Turkey Foot Lakes Golf Course in the Futures tour boys 12 to 16 age division, carding a 79. Kinter followed that with an additional second-place finish at Mill Creek Golf Course in the same division.

Jacob Rainieri, of Mogadore, fired an 83 to finish third in the boys 14-15 age division at Wooster Country Club in the Junior Series. Raineri also finished ninth at Mill Creek in the same division.

Finally, Nicholas Pollak competing in te Junior Series at Mill Creek Golf Course landed in the top five, finishing 18-holes with a score of 78.

The juniors are enjoying a great summer season as they prepare to compete for middle school, high school and collegiate teams or just simply enjoy time on the links during the summer.

The first Portage Sports four-person scramble is less than two weeks away for golfers competing in the event with the chance to meet some of the best high school athletes in Portage County.

It will be so much fun to compete, have several of the high school athletes helping the scramble teams with their own unique skills and attempting to shoot low scores while also competing in long drive, closest to the pin and putting contests.
