Gracyn Vidovic of Aurora has played golf in the biggest tournaments in Ohio: The OHSAA Division I State Tournament, the Ohio Junior Girls State Championship, NOPGA Kenny Novak Championship and a variety of other tournaments and matches during her four years of high-school golf for the Greenmen.
She made history at the Ohio Junior Girls State Championship, shooting the lowest round in the 48-year history of the event at Marion Country Club in Marion, a 6-under-par 66.
Vidovic is on the verge of making history again with the Northern Ohio Junior PGA team that has qualified for the Junior PGA League National Championship on Nov. 15-17.
The team is all girls.
Only 82 junior golfers made the championship and, of that number, only a dozen are female.
Six of those girls are on Team Ohio, including Vidovic.
The teams play Nov. 15 and 16 with the finals Nov. 17.
Vidovic, who has committed to Ashland to continue her education and golf, will make history when she steps on the links.
We’ll keep everyone informed how the team finishes at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.
Jim Manion shared the final results of the Randolph Golf League as it concluded its 45th season at Paradise Lakes Golf Course in Suffield.
Mike Briggs of Atwater and Paul Beach of Randolph were the championship team that defeated Bruce Kuzma and Smokey Beitzel in an 18-hole playoff, winning 56 to 32 over two weeks.
Briggs and Beach defeated Bill Kline and John Wanacheck 28 to 16 in their semifinal match. Kuzma and Beitzel needed an extra hole to advance to the finals by beating Roy Richards and Denny Finch, with that semifinal match ending in a 22-22 deadlock.
The win for Briggs was his second title since joining the 24-man league in 2018.
The championship was a first for Beach, who has been in the league for 10 years.
Members of the Randolph Lions Club started the league in 1979 and have a random drawing each March to determine partners.
