Striking a Balance: Standout efforts delivered around area lanes

As bowling lanes look toward celebrating New Year’s Eve with fun events for adults and families, bowling leagues are still in vacation mode with some bowling and a few delayed through the holidays.

A few highlights this week in area leagues included:

  • Lisa Osborne leading the women in the Perfect Fit Trio League with her 243-825 effort, taking high game and series. For the men, Jeremie Grund just missed his perfect game by two pins, rolling a 298 high game. John Kertis rolled the high series, a 1,028.
  • David Kovacic, 197-340, and Maranda Ailes 178-354, working their way to the top of the leaderboard in the Special Needs League.
  • The Junior League on Saturday morning led by Dominic Madden, who crushed the pins for a 208, and Brayden Burnett earning high series, 537 for the boys. Among the girls, Amiah Neiswanger tossed a 165 and Brooklyn Baril bowled a 420 series with a 156 high game.
  • The youngest bowlers saw Colton Ahlquist (101) and Theo Aken (195) earn high game and high series using the bumpers, as Lilly Renkel tossed a 90 high game and Olivia Lenington a 163 series.
  • Nate Shahan and Krista Dockery didn’t share the high game-high series honors in the Happy Hour Doubles League. Shahan bowled a 225-641 to lead the men as Dockery rolled a 213-295 as the best among the women.
  • In the Elks and Friends, Jeff Largent crushed the pins fo a 289 high game and Kevin Kommel rolled a solid 704 high series. Tabitha Schlupe led all women, 245-680.
