The Portage County USBC hosted the annual Junior-Senior Trio Tournament at Sky Lanes, with 23 teams competing.

Teams rolled three games and six Baker games.

The Junior-Senior Trio tournament champions were (from left to right) Nike Toke, Brian Woodrum and Bradley Woodrum.

After everyone had competed, the team of Nick Toke, Brian Woodrum and Bradley Woodrum were crowned the champions. The team bowled a total 3,369 pins and added 210 pins, with their handicap for a 3,579 total to best second place by 36 pins fired by the team of Joseph, Baillie and Speicher.

The top-six teams cashed in the event.

FEATURED LEAGUE

The Garden Spot League, which bowls on Wednesdays at Spins Bowl in Kent, consistently has some of the highest games each week reported around area lanes.

This week was no different.

Although this column lists the top-three high games and series in each league, there are series and games worth nothing each week in the Garden Spot.

This week, the men had nine 700 games at the top of the league led by Josh Wilson’s 757, Jim Pischera’s 747 and Patrick Adolph’s 739.

Adolph also rolled the high game, a 290 with the league boasting 10 high individuals bowling no less than a 266 high game.

The women are outstanding as well.

Teri Plaso led the way this week, bowling a 289-785. Joining in the 700 parth was Erin Jackson, Plaso’s daughter, bowling a 714, with a 254 high game, followed by Aleks Kiss (268-689). The top-10 women each cracked the 200 mark for high game.

MILLER IS PERFECT

Justin Miller of Rootstown rolled a perfect 300 game in the High School Match Play trio and grabbed high series as well, tossing a 783 three-game set.

Justin Wagner was the runner-up for the week, tossing a 278-778.

Kaitlyn Hammerschmidt was the best for the girls bowling 267-605.

ROOFING GUY SPOTLIGHT (MORE PERFECTION)

Justin Miller wasn’t the only 300 game of the week at Spins Bowl.

Dexter Worthy, bowling in the Roofing Guy League, tossed the 12 strikes for a 300 game, finishing with a three-game set of 701.

High series of the week for the men was rolled by Barry Sano, 818, with a 278 high game. David Rogers rounded out the top three, rolling a 268-721.

Scott Hensley finished in the second-high series spot, crashing through the pins for a 743 with a 258 high game.

The women were led by Ashleey Cottrell 243 and Ashley Kuhns 577.
