In a low-scoring game, the Pirates found a burst of offensive output in the second half to pull off a 38-34 victory over Jefferson Area on the road on Friday.
The Pirates had scored just 10 points by halftime, but used the third quarter to come alive with an 18-point effort that was followed up with a 10-point fourth quarter to close out the Falcons.
Anna Keto led the way, scoring all 10 of her points in the second half, with eight of those points coming in the third quarter.
Sophia Fischer chipped in with seven points for the Pirates (1-0), while Cami McPeak, Kayla Grope and Lexi Morris all scored six points each.
It was the season-opener for the Pirates, who will have their home opener on Tuesday against Firestone.
