The 2023 Rootstown High School boys alumni soccer game, which is played as the primary fundraiser for the Ryan Streem Memorial Scholarship, was played on Saturday at Rootstown High School.

All proceeds from the game, including player registration, raffles and donations, go directly toward the Ryan Streem Memorial Scholarship, which has given out more than $50,000 to graduating Rootstown seniors.

Rootstown’s graduating Class of 2023 had the most applicants since the scholarship was introduced for the first time in 2002, with six scholarships being awarded in 2023.

It was the 22nd alumni game for the program and it was preceded by a Kids Game that showcased the children of Rootstown alumni players.

The alumni game followed, with a format that set teams based on graduating years. “Evens vs. Odds,” with the “Evens” winning the game 9-6.
