Homecoming proved to be exactly what the Ravenna Ravens needed.
The team snapped a four-game losing streak and did it in resounding fashion with a 55-12 Metro Athletic Conference triumph over the visiting Coventry Comets on Friday.
The Spartans opened the game with the first score, but the extra point failed and the Spartans led 6-0.
Ravenna, however, went on to score the game’s next 44 points unanswered to take complete control of the game.
The Ravens led 14-6 after the first quarter on touchdown runs by Pavel Henderson (34 yards) and M’Kell Williams (9 yards).
The lead ballooned in the second quarter on a touchdown run by Williams from 21 yards out, which was followed by a 45-yard pass from Williams to Maykai O’Neal, a 27-yard run by Williams, a 38-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Dominic Burch and a 22-yard run by Pavel Henderson.
By halftime, the advantage for Ravenna was 48-6.
For the game, Ravenna rushed for a total of 284 yard.
Henderson led the way with 114 yards on just six carries. Williams finished with 44 yards rushing on five attempts, while CJ Ross added 43 yards and Austin Marshall had 34 for the Ravens.
Next up, in Week 9, for the Ravens will be a road trip at Woodridge.
