Portage Sports will introduce its Women in Sports series next week.
The series, which is designed to spotlight the growth and history of women’s sports in Portage County, will be a spotlight series of stories that will be scheduled to be highlighted every year in July.
In addition, obviously, to the continued coverage of girls sports throughout the fall, winter and spring seasons.
Stories scheduled to publish this week include:
• Wednesday: Open Letter column from Mogadore native and current professional softball player Lexie Handley.
• Thursday: Feature on Windham High School girls sports pioneer Frances Davis.
• Friday: Celebrating the 40-year anniversary of the 1983 Southeast High School girls cross country state championship.
• Saturday: Feature on Kent Roosevelt graduate and current professional women’s soccer player Kayla Fischer.
