The 1938 Kent Roosevelt High School boys basketball team finished its season with a 12-6 record.
The yearbook write up about the team included this:
“Our basketball five, coached by Mr. Glenn Pierson, had, on the whole, a successful season winning twelve and losing six. The quintet got off to a slow start, but gradually gained momentum and by the end of the season was clicking in championship fashion. The climax of the year was reached in the second Roosevelt-Ravenna game when the teams went into four overtime periods, in which the lead changed five times and Ravenna finally won 27-25. Following this memorable clash, the team defeated Wadsworth and Cuyahoga Falls both of which won over Ravenna. This resulted in a tie for the championship between Ravenna and Roosevelt, both having four wins and two losses. At a meeting of the coaches, the cup was awarded to Ravenna on the basis of points scored.”
