Portage Sports is proud to announce the hiring of Phil Keren as a high school football game reporter for the 2023 season.

Keren spent more than 20 years writing for the Record-Courier and Akron Beacon Journal, with 16 years spent as the editor of the Record Publishing Company’s Cuyahoga Falls News Press, where he received awards from the Ohio Newspaper Association for coverage and editorial writing.

Keren is now a Senior Editor for Club + Resort Business — a publication that specializes in coverage of the operations and management staff of country clubs, semi-private and daily fee golf courses, city clubs, yacht clubs and resorts that operate club-like facilities.

“Phil is a great addition to our Friday night football coverage,” Portage Sports owner Tom Nader said. “I worked alongside Phil at the Record-Courier, and we shared countless hours in the newsroom together. He brings integrity to his work, and he has a passion for high-school sports. I am excited to have him join our coverage team.”

In Week 1 of the season, Keren will be in Mantua to cover the Red Devils playing host to the Rootstown Rovers.
