Former Kent Roosevelt standout and Kent State University varsity golf team member, Randy Dietz, is in the lead following the first day of the Northern Ohio PGA Professional Championship at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield.
Dietz, a teaching professional at Windmill Golf Center in Macedonia, leads the 73rd NOPGA Championship by one stroke, carding a two-under-par 70 for the first 18-holes of the 54-hole tournament.
On Dietz’s heels is Rob Moss, another former Kent State golf team alumnus and now head professional at Pepper Pike. Moss is in a tie for second place at 1-under-par 71.
Dietz is the current leader for Player of the Year in the NOPGA. He finished second in the NOPGA professional championship in 2022.
The 61 players compete in the second round at Tippecanoe beginning at 8:30 a.m. today (Tuesday). Following the second round, the field is cut to the top 27 scores and ties for the final round Wednesday.
