Finishing tied for fourth on the fairways of Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Liam Curtis, of Kent Roosevelt, advanced to the Division I district tournament by earning the second individual qualifying spot on Tuesday.
It’s an amazing month for Curtis, who just recently defended his Player of the Year status in the Suburban League’s American Conference.
Continuing his outstanding play, Curtis, a junior for the Rough Riders, remained consistent carding rounds of 38-37 for the 75, 18-hole score.
The Rough Riders missed advancing as a team by 10 strokes as senior Rowan Baynes fired a 77, Jack Puhalla 87, Christian Mineo 88 and Jack Flynn 88.
Curtis will now compete on a tough Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley for the right to earn his return trip to the Division I state tournament on Monday.
