MOGADORE’S TRUE TEAM EFFORT EARNS WIN
The Wildcats proved that golf is a true team sport as individual scores ranging from 43 to 45 earned the victory over Lake Center Christian on Thursday.
Despite Jacob Rainieri, golfing for the Tigers, earning medalist honors at Sable Creek with his 4-over-par 40, the Wildcats were consistent and persistent to remain undefeated, earning their fourth victory overall and their second victory in the Portage Trail Conference.
Max Shannon and Brock Thiry each shot 43, with Jude Thiry adding a 44 and Tyler Pendergast a 45 to put up a wall against the scoring of the Tigers.
Lake Center is now 1-2 both overall and in the PTC.
SOUTHEAST UNDEFEATED IN MVAC GREY DIVISION
The Pirates picked up their third victory in the MVAC Grey Division when they topped former PTC Conference rival Garfield at Olde Dutch Mill in Lake Milton.
Medalist honors were earned by James Morgan. The Pirates’ standout fired a 38 on the Par-36 fairways of his home course.
Morgan was backed up by Ethan Shodd 44, Alex Peelish 45 and Shade Stevens 49.
Garfield, now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the MVAC, was led by Hunter Anderson (41), Daniel Mcle (44) and Dillan Paul (45).
ROVERS DROP FIRST PTC MATCH
The Rovers played Warren JFK at Trumbull Country Club and dropped lost their first match in the PTC.
Kennedy’s Andrew LaPolla fired a 33 on the Par-35 course despite three-putting two of the last three holes.
The Rovers’ Luke Flowers and Anthony Cambareri each shot 45s to lead the Rovers now 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the PTC.
Warren JFK is 2-0 in both league and overall.
ANOTHER MATCH, ANOTHER RECORD FOR THE ROVERS
For most teams, it is an occasional day that they have a record-setting performance.
For the Rovers, it is becoming a habit.
When the Rovers played the Explorers of Hudson, at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield, Rootstown again set a new record-low team score at 181, topping Hudson (197) by 16 strokes.
Alex Biggin also had her low, nine-hole match score, a 44 in the Rovers’ victory.
Rootstown was led by match medalist, Ava Miller (43) with help from Chloe Gardner (46) and Camryn Lappe (48).
Hudson’s best was fired by Brooke Harvey (46).
The Rovers improved to 4-2 overall with the victory.
ROCKETS SPLIT MATCH AMONG METRO RIVALS
The Streetsboro Rockets traveled to Bunker Hill Golf Course in Medina to take on Cloverleaf and Field, losing to the Colts and topping the Falcons.
Medalist of the match was Quinn Malarkey of Cloverleaf (45).
Streetsboro was led by Sarah Czirok (59) and Field’s lowest score was posed by MacKenzie Boley (53).
