For the second time in as many weeks, the Streetsboro wrestling program celebrated a 100-win performer.
Just after senior Donovan Paes reached the milestone, fellow Rockets senior Anthony Perez joined the club by earning the 100th victory of his career while the team competed at Twinsburg last Friday.
Perez is in his first year wrestling with Streetsboro after spending the first three seasons of his high-school career at CVCA.
Perez was always quite familiar with the Rockets, though, as he wrestled for Streetsboro throughout his youth wrestling career.
“I have known Anthony since he was about 6,” Streetsboro head coach Josh Zupancic said. “Since he has come back to Streetsboro, he has meshed well with the team and has helped guide some of our younger wrestlers,” Zupancic added.
Zupancic offered praise for the level that Perez is at.
“Anthony has become a very skilled wrestler over the years, and he is always fun to watch with an unorthodox style,” Zupancic said. “He has a much more laid back demeanor than a lot of highly successful wrestlers, but he still knows what it takes to win the tough matches.”
