The Metro Athletic Conference announced on Thursday night via a press release from commissioner Chris Pavlik that it has officially added Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls, which comes one day after Kent City Schools announced it had accepted an invitation to the league for Kent Roosevelt High School and Stanton Middle School.

The MAC now sits as a 10-team league, with the three new additions joining Cloverleaf, Field, Norton, Ravenna, Springfield, Streetsboro and Woodridge.

News of Kent Roosevelt joining the MAC was reported by Portage Sports on Wednesday afternoon.

Roosevelt, Tallmadge and Cuyahoga Falls all will make the move from the Suburban League.

Exactly when they will join the MAC is part of “details and logistics” that the MAC is still trying to sort out, including how a 10-team football season will determine a league champion, according Pavlik.

In most cases, league members off a two-year notice before officially joining a new league, though exceptions have also been made across various leagues in the past.

If the two-year period is held, it would have Roosevelt, Cuyahoga Falls and Tallmadge joining the MAC in the fall of 2027.

The discussion for the MAC to accept in new schools began when Coventry announced in July it was leaving the MAC to join the Principals Athletic Conference.

In the weeks following Coventry’s announcement, multiple teams sent a letter of interest to apply to the MAC, including a reported 10 schools.
