SUBURBAN LEAGUE GIRLS TOURNAMENT #1

(At Goodpark Golf Course, Akron – Par 72)

The first of four Suburban League tournaments to determine the girls golf champions was contested at Good Park Golf Course in Akron on Wednesday.

Gracyn Vidovic of Aurora continued her outstanding play, earning medalist honors with Elizabeth Coleman of Highland, each carding 75.

Kent Roosevelt’s Cassidy Singer

The Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders finished in second place (333) behind Highland (315), with a balanced scoring attack including: Ashlyn Leavery 81, Cassidy Singer 83, Coco Golden 83 and Adrianna Mineo 86.

“I was very happy with how the girls played today,” said Roosevelet coach Bryan Harvey. “Every stroke counted out there today, and we had two girls shoot their personal bests for 18 holes to lead us to a strong second-place finish.

“Cassidy is becoming more confident in her game and learning how to finish off a good round.  Yesterday she struggled at the end, but she came back today and helped the team and shoot a career low 83,” Harvey added.

“Coco is really starting to play solid golf. She also shot her personal best today.  She is working very hard and has improved in every aspect of her game. She is avoiding the big numbers on her card and if she continues her work ethic, she will quickly become one of the best players in the league.

“Ashlyn hasn’t played her best golf yet, but is still shooting in the low 80’s and leading the team both on and off the course.

“Adrianna continues to play a strong second 9 holes.  Once she starts getting off to a little better start, she will start approaching the low 80s and high 70s in scoring.

“Kate and Ella are definitely contributing to the team. This is their first prolonged varsity experience and they have handled themselves very well on the course.”

Aurora earned third place, falling one shot shy of Roosevelt, totaling a 334.Vidovic ledi the way and support came from Manisha Girn 79, Meena Kraus 84 and Coutney Zeid 88.
