LADY EXPLORER INVITATIONAL

Kent Roosevelt’s Maddie Kost

The Kent Roosevelt girls team walked away with the trophy at the prestigious Lady Explorer Invitational, hosted by Hudson at Lake Forest Country Club on Monday.

Led by Maddie Kost’s runner-up medalist score of 75, the girls from Kent totaled a solid 345 to top Magnificat by one stroke.

Ashlyn Leavery added an 86, Adrianna Mineo a 91 and Cassidy Singer a 93 for the top-four scores, with Izzi Wood supporting the girls with an improved score of 101 over Saturday’s round at the Lady Rider Invitational.

 

LADY SPARTAN INVITATIONAL

Five Portage County teams traveled to compete in the Lady Spartan Invitational at Chenoweth Golf Course in Akron among 11 teams.

The Southeast Pirates earned a runner-up finish, with the Rootstown Rovers and the Streetsboro Rockets in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Southeast’s Taylor Blazek fired an 83 to earn third place among the individuals.

Streetsboro’s Samantha Clark also cracked the top 10, earning a tie for sixth place (91).

JACKSON POLAR BEAR INVITATIONAL

Kent Roosevelt’s Liam Curtis

While the Rough Riders were victorious at Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson, the Kent boys were also making waves at the Jackson Polar Bear Invitational at Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown.

Roosevelt’s Liam Curtis led the golfers in the 20-team field as the medalist, firing a 4-under-par 68.

Kent Roosevelt finished in 13th place overall, firing a team total 326. Fellow Suburban League competitor Aurora was 15th, carding a team total 338.

 

MINERAL RIDGE INVITATIONAL

James Morgan, a sophomore for the Southeast Pirates, fired his way to medalist honors in the Mineral Ridge Invitational at Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course in Lake Milton.

Morgan shot an even-par 72, earning the top spot over Trey Rigley of Mineral Ridge (74) and Jackson Eichler of Waterloo (76).

Rootstown’s Austin Biggin

The Rovers’ Austin Biggin carded a 41 at Pleasant View Golf Course in Louisville to lead the Rovers to victory in their first Portage Trail Conference match of the season.
