25-22, 25-12, 25-23

The Red Devils won for the second time in as many nights — and again by a three-game sweep.

Jazmyn Stevens highlighted the victory with six points, one ace, seven kills, 15 assists and 10 digs.

Abby Guyette also turned in an all-around effort with five points, one ace, three kills, 17 assists and five digs.

Aimee Barnauskas added 10 kills, seven digs and four points, while Maddie Dustman had a team-high 11 points and seven kills and Zoe Babnik and eight points for the Devils.

 

ROOTSTOWN DEF. MOGADORE,

25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19

The Rovers won their Portage Trail Conference opener against rival Mogadore in a competitive match that went four games.

Linsdsay Smith totaled 17 points, 11 digs and six kills, while Taylor Banks had 11 points, 14 assists and 14 digs for the Rovers.

Nadia Lough added nine kills and Allison Strickland had 11 assists and 14 digs for Rootstown, which is now 3-3 overall.

The leading point-scorer for the Wildcats (0-2, 0-1 PTC) was Gracie Funk with 10 points, while Kenzington Miller and Brooklyn McIntyre added seven points each.

 

GARFIELD DEF. CHAMPION,

25-23, 25-16, 25-17

The G-Men captured the three-game sweep thanks to a number of big performances.

Madeline Shirkey had 27 assists, nine points and 11 digs, while Gabby Barnard had 11 kills and 20 digs.

Kyla Grace had 34 digs, while Montana McGranahan added five aces, 10 kills and 18 digs; and Hannah Kernig had eight kills for Garfield.

 

BOYS SOCCER

FIELD 3, CLOVERLEAF 0

Kyle Schoenbeck netted yet another hat trick to account for all scoring by the Falcons in a shutout victory over the Colts in Metro Athletic Conference play.

Schoenbeck now has 14 goals on the young season.

Assists for the Falcons came from Gavin Greene, who had a pair, and Wyatt Rahe. Greene continues to get closer to the school’s career assists record.

In goal for the clean sheet was Caleb Brastine.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

CLOVERLEAF 3, FIELD 0

The Colts remained perfect on the season and in Metro Athletic Conference with a shutout victory over the Falcons.

Cloverleaf is now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.

The Falcons lost leading goal-scorer Cassie Wilde to a thigh injury in the first half.
