GIRLS BASKETBALL

STREETSBORO 65, COVENTRY 40

A balanced Rockets offense was highlighted by Ella Kassan’s 15 points and Naomi Benson’s 14 points in the team’s eighth straight victory to close out the regular season.

Streetsboro’s last loss came on Jan. 16 to Toledo Central Catholic at the Classic in the Country event.

The Rockets’ last league loss came on Dec. 16 and the team finishes the regular season with a 17-5 overall record and 12-2 in the league — one game back of league champion Norton.

WOODRIDGE 59, FIELD 43

Cam Hoover had a monster double-double to lead the Bulldogs to the Metro Athletic Conference victory.

Hoover, a junior, finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds, allowing Woodridge to improve its overall record to 15-6 and 11-3 in the MAC.

Leah Mencer joined Hoover in double figures with 13 points for the Dogs, who used a 15-4 second quarter to initially pull away from the Falcons.

Field (12-10, 7-7 MAC) was led in scoring by Delilah Rahe, who finished with a double-double as well, with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Maddie Jacobs added seven points for the Falcons.

MOGADORE 54, AKRON NORTH 11

The Wildcats rolled to a non-league victory at home on Monday.

Brook McIntyre led all scorers in the game with 21 points, hitting eight field goals and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.

McKenna Whitehead added 12 points and Amelia Morris led the Cats in rebounds with six.

The Wildcats’ defense was dominant and the team finished with zero fouls in the game.

ROOTSTOWN 48, KIRTLAND 32

The visiting Rovers received an impressive double-double from junior Brooklynn McIntyre in a non-league victory over the Hornets.

McIntyre had 12 points and 19 rebounds.

Sophomore Sasha Nichols led the Rovers in scoring with 13 points.

Nadia Lough returned to the lineup (injury) and had 10 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

WINDHAM 70, SOUTHINGTON CHALKER 49

Four different Bombers players reached double-digit scoring and the team raced away from Chalker on Monday night.

Carlos Bruton led all scorers in the game with 20 points, while he had plenty of help from Chase Eye (18 points), Jack Eye (13) and Lucas Churchill (12) in the lopsided Bombers’ victory.

Windham held a 33-28 lead at halftime, then outscored Chalker 37-21 in the second half to pull away.
