STREETSBORO 51, ROOTSTOWN 36
A top team from the Metro Athletic Conference, in the Rockets, travelled to face the top team in the Portage Trail Conference, in the Rovers, on Saturday in Rootstown.
Streetsboro (11-5) rode the momentum from a big first quarter throughout the game and emerge with the non-league victory.
The Rockets, who led 18-9 after the first eight minutes, were led by Naomi Benson’s 16 points, while Carlee Bedford buried three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points.
The Rovers received 16 points from sophomore Nadia Lough the loss.
Rootstown (12-2) had entered the game with an 11-game winning streak.
FIELD 45, MOGADORE 43
The Falcons pulled out a close victory over neighbor rival Mogadore (8-7) on Saturday in Brimfield.
Ally Harlin led Field (10-7) in scoring with 14 points, including a trio of shots from behind the 3-point arc.
Delilah Rahe also reached double figures in scoring with 10 points, to go with 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Mogadore’s top scorer was Brooke McIntyre with 16 points.
The two teams went back and forth throughout the game, with Field leading 10-6 after the first quarter, 16-13 at halftime and 29-28 going into the fourth quarter.
