NO. 4 FIELD 2, NO. 5 NORTON 0

After a scoreless first half, Delilah Rahe handled the scoring for host Field to lift the Falcons over the Panthers in the first round of the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday.

Rahe’s first goal was assisted by Wilde after Wilde stole a poorly cleared ball out of the Norton defense and advanced it forward into space with a header.

Rahe outraced the Pantghers’ defense to get inside the box and place the ball just under the lunging Norton goalkeeper.

Rahe was the beneficiary of a ricocheted ball to set up her second goal.

After Taryn Allen moved the ball toward the top of the box to set up Wilde, Wilde’s left-footed shot attempt was redirected by a Norton defender and after a couple of other deflections, the ball landed at Rahe’s feet on the left side of the box and she punished the ball into the top of the goal.

The win advances the Falcons to the semifinal round of the MAC Tournament, where they will travel to face top-seeded Streetsboro on Tuesday.

The Falcons next game, however, is their final regular-season game of the year at Highland on Saturday.
