SOUTHEAST REMAINS UNDEFEATED IN MVAC
Taylor Blazek fired a 1-under-par 34 at Olde Dutch Mill to help the Southeast Pirates beat Mineral Ridge 166 to 200 and remain undefeated in the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Gray Division.
Southeast was consistent as Aubree Varga fired a 42 and Sammy Morgan a 43 with three 47s scored by Jessi Mix, Adrianna Sloan and Jenni Mix.
The Pirates move to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the conference.
ROOSEVELT’S CURTIS MEDALIST AGAIN
Kent Roosevelt traveled to compete in the Blue Streak Invitational at Congress Lake Country Club in Hartville to compete with 24 teams.
Liam Curtis, a senior for the Rough Riders this season, fired an even-par to again earn medalist honors and share the top spot in the tournament with three additional golfers.
Kent Roosevelt finished 15th in the tournament (team score of 345), with freshman Jaxon Turner adding a 91, and junior Deacon Smith an 89.
University School won the tournament with a team score of 301.
MORGAN, PEELISH LEAD PIRATES TO VICTORY
The Southeast Pirates continued to improve their record in the MVAC, beating Liberty 170 to 237 at Stambaugh Golf Course in Youngstown.
James Morgan fired an even-par 36 for the Pirates and Alex Peelish a 41, with Ethan Shodd a 46 and Shade Stevens a 47 as Southeast improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the MVAC Gray Division.
Morgan birdied the final two holes to keep his streak going and earn medalist honors. Liberty’s best was fire by Evan Bates, a 40.
ROVERS DROP PTC MATCH TO UNDEFEATED WARREN JFK
The Rovers, led by Luke Flowers (46) dropped a Portage Trail Conference match to Warren JFK at Sunny Hill Golf Course, 153 to 187.
Warren JFK remains undefeated as the Rovers are now 9-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
In addition to Flowers, the Rovers had strong rounds from Trentan Sines (47), Ryan Wolf (47) and Caleb Stevens (47).
Warren JFK’s Henry Phillips fired a 35 and Jullian Bolino a 37 as the best on the fairways for the visitors, now 5-0 in the PTC.
GARFIELD LOSES TO MVAC OPPONENT BROOKFIELD
Traveling to Yankee Lake Golf Course in Warren, the Garfield G-Men took on MVAC opponent Brookfield, losing the conference match-up 164 to 199.
Garfield’s Hunter Anderson fired a 47 and Dillan Paul and Daniel Mcle each added a 49, but the one-two punch of Brookfield’s Hunter Warrener (37) and Baydon Demaria (38) was too much to overcome by the G-Men.
