ROVERS WIN BY ONE STROKE OVER STREETSBORO

The Rootstown Rovers topped the visiting Streetsboro Rockets by one stroke at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield on Tuesday.

The Rovers fired 196 to the Rockets’ 197 to walk off the course with the victory.

Rootstown’s Alex Biggin fired a 46 to lead the Rovers, with Ava Miller, Chloe Gardner and Morgan Geibel each carding 50 in a consistent effort from the home team.

Streetsboro’s Claire Campbell was the best on the Sunny Hill fairways, shooting a 44 with Sarah Czirok adding a 46.

The Rovers improve to 10-2 overall, while the Rockets are now 5-7.

FIELD’S MACKENZIE BOLEY MEDALIST IN TRI-MATCH

The Falcons Mackenzie Boley fired a 42 to earn match medalist honors in a tri-match against Norton and Woodridge at Loyal Oak Golf Course in Norton.

The Falcons finished with a 235 team score, just four strokes behind Woodridge (231) and 14 strokes shy of Norton (221).

The Panthers were led by Abigail Collins with a 52, while Ava Butcher carded a 55 and Lily Harvey and Faith Fitzgibbons each scored 57s.

ANOTHER CLOSE ONE

Brookfield and Southeast have both proven themselves to two of the best teams in the MVAC Gray Division.

On Tuesday, it was Brookfield that took home the victory by only one stroke over the visiting Southeast Pirates.

Playing Yankee Lake Golf Course in Warren (par 35), Southeast’s James Morgan fired a 1-under-par 34 as the best in the match.

Alex Peelish added a 49, Alex Peelish 49, Cole Bruno 50 and Ethan Shodd 51.

Brookfield was led by Cody Davidson’s 41.

Brookfield is now 7-0 in the MVAC Gray Division, Southeast drops to 6-2.

    Thank you for the article on Girl’s Golf tri-match between Field, Norton and Woodridge. Couple corrections though. In the second sentence, the falcons were 4 strokes behind Woodridge and in the third sentence, the young ladies (Ava, Lily and Faith) play for Norton. Additionally, Abigail Collins plays for Norton and carded a 52 for second overall. Love Portage Sports!
