GIRLS GOLF

ROVERS CHALK UP ANOTHER WIN AND ANOTHER NEW RECORD…

The Rootstown Rovers fired a team total 196 to beat Springfield by 17 strokes.

“This was our first sub-200 score away from Sunny Hill Golf Course,” said Matt Just, coach of the Rovers. The Rovers are in their third year as a program.

The Rovers’ Ava Miller fired a 46 and Chloe Gardner added a 49. Anna Drago (51) and Morgan Giebel (50) rounded out the team scoring for the Rovers.

Springfield’s Brooke Porter led the home team with a 48.

Rootstown improves to 6-2 overall.

 

ROCKETS SPLIT TRIMATCH

Streetsboro split a Metro Conference match with Cloverleaf and Norton at the Panthers’ home, Loyal Oaks Golf Club.

The Colts’ Quinn Malarkey earned match medalist honors, firing a 1-over-par 37.

The Rockets improved to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the Metro thanks to Sarah Czirok and Claire Campbell, each carding 48s.

Cloverleaf remains undefeated in the Meto at 5-0 and Norton falls to 0-3.

 

CHAMPION BESTS GMEN IN MVAC GREY DIVISION MATCHUP

Only 10 strokes separated the girls from Champion and Garfield when the nine-hole conference match was completed.

Champion’s Brilea Woods fired a 46 as the medalist for the match.

Garfield was led by Addison Snyder and Emily Knerem, each carding a pair of 57s.

 

FIELD DROPS HOME MATCH TO WOODRIDGE

The Bulldogs bested the Falcons at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield.

The Falcons’ Mackenzie Boley fired a 51 and Kylie Finley a 54 to lead Field on its home course.

Woodridge’s best was carded by Gia Regec (46).

MOGADORE WINS CRUCIAL PTC MATCH OVER ROVERS

Mogadore’s Jude Thiry

The Wildcats fired a 163 at their home course, Paradise Lake Country Club in Suffield, to beat Portage Trail Conference rival, Rootstown, by 14 strokes.

Medalist honors was earned by Jude Thiry, who fired a 5-over-par 38 on his home fairways followed by Tyler Pendergast’s 39. Deep in the lineup, Mogadore received help to push them to the win from Brock Thiry and Jackson Lanham who each fired 43.

Ryan Wolf was the best on the fairways for the Rovers, carding a 43, as the top four Rovers were within two strokes of each other, including Luke Flowers (44), Trentan Sines (45) and Anthony Cambareri (45).

 

PIRATES IMPROVE TO 4-1 IN MVAC

Southeast’s James Morgan shot a 1-over-par 37 and Cole Bruno added a 41 to give the Pirates their fourth victory in the MVAC Grey Division to only one loss.

LaBrae’s best was carded by Austin Rowe (45), dropping to 2-3 in conference play.

The Pirates take on Champion at their home, Olde Dutch Mill, on Friday to avenge their only conference loss this season.

 

VIKES TOP LAKE CENTER BY SIX STROKES

Despite a 40 fired by Jacob Rainieri of Lake Center Christian, the Waterloo Vikings were victorious at their home course, 194 to 200.

Trevor Simons fired a 43 and Clayton Smith a 45 to lead the home team to the notch in the win column and improve their record to 4-5 overall.

 

GARFIELD NOTCHES A WIN OVER CRESTVIEW

The G-Men traveled to Beaver Creek Meadows in Columbiana to take on Crestview in an MVAC Grey Division match.

Owning a 163 team score at the end of the match, Garfield was led by Hunter Anderson’s 39, Dillan Paul’s 37 and Caleb Sheer’s 42.

Crestview’s best was fired by Braydon Gilbert, a 38.
