The Rootstown High School girls golf team made some program history on Thursday.
In just their second year as a varsity sport, the Rovers shot their lowest-ever match-team score on Thursday.
The team’s 200 score was 24 strokes better than Portage Trail Conference competitor Lake Center Christian at Sunny Hill Golf Course in Brimfield.
Chloe Gardner fired her low score of the season, a 46, to lead Rootstown, with Liz Adkins adding a 53, Alex Biggin a 50 and Anna Drago a 51 on the Par-34 fairways of Sunny Hill.
The Rovers are now 8-3 this season overall and 2-1 in the Portage Trail Conference.
The Rough Riders girls team earned their ninth victory in nine starts, topping Green 174-187 at Turkeyfoot Lakes Golf Course in the Portage Lakes.
Maddie Kost lead the winners, firing a 1-under-par 36 with Cassidy Singer adding a 43.
