It was a tough district for the local girls who qualified with the best golfers in the Northeast Ohio district seeking to advance to the OHSAA’s Division I State Tournament.

The Aurora and Kent Roosevelt girls had qualified first and fourth, respectively, in the Division-I sectional and were seeking to continue their golf season following the district that was competed at Brookledge Golf Course in Cuyahoga Falls on Tuesday.

The 5,337-yard fairways, playing to a Par 71, proved to be a difficult task for many of the golfers.

The temperature was good, the rain held off, but the winds were gusting at times.

For Aurora and 2023 state qualifier Gracyn Vidovic, the Greenmen finished 24 strokes short of the top0four teams to advance to the state.

For Vidovic, it was a lot closer. She fired a 77, one shot shy of advancing to the state tournament again as an individual.

Vidovic had two birdies for the day, but doubled hole 15 and bogeyed the final hole.

However, with the outstanding play throughout her prep career, she has a bright future in the game of golf.

The rest of Aurora’s team that finished in 10th place fired: Manisha Girn 83, Meena Kraus 92, Courtney Zeid 102 and Bennett Deluca 100.

The Riders finished in 12th place led by Ashlyn Leavery and Adrianna Mineo, each firing 86. Cassidy Singer added a 94, Ella Houk a 92 and Coco Golden a 101.

Both Kent Roosevelt and Aurora had great seasons and their coaches, Roosevelt’s Bryan Harvey and Aurora’s Collin McEndree, are looking forward to next season.
