The Ravens have spent the previous two seasons rebuilding the program and enter this season with hopes that they are ready to move forward.
To do it, third-year coach Courtney O’Donnell wants the team to turn defense into offense.
“We want to apply pressure on the defensive end, then minimize turnovers on offense. We want to play inside-out in the halfcourt, but play a transition style game first.”
The primary ball-handlers will be Sandifer and Clark, who were key contributors in the rotation last year.
White and Alanna Casteel will be the team’s shooting guards.
Jeilany Malave-Acosta will step into a role as the team’s defensive specialist.
Walker and Thompson bring size to the frontcourt at 5-foot-9 and 6-foot, respectively.
Their length has the potential to create a strong defensive frontcourt and quality rebounding for the Ravens.
On offense, O’Donnell expects Walker and Thompson to “get a lot of time in the paint, looking to facilitate and score.”
Mallory Sterba, a junior, will also be part of the rotation and can be a physical defender down low.
Norma White, fresh.
“We are small and numbers are low this season. We hope to work hard and continue to develop and compete.”
O’Donnell lists Norton and Streetsboro as the Metro Athletic Conference’s top tier of talent and title contenders.
