Aurora loses its leading scorer, Sam Stask, to graduation.
Program wide this season, though, numbers are down, which could limit the Greenmen’s versatility and depth.
Even still, veteran coach Greenberg, who won her 200th career game last year, hopes her team can stay in the mix for the Suburban League title.
“We are looking t play team basketball, move without the ball, get everyone involved offensively and not rely on one scorer.”
Multiple players spotlight the backcourt, with five returning lettermen.
Witting, who Greenberg says worked “incredibly hard” during the off-season, has the ability to score and is a plus-defender.
Pierce is quick and can score by getting to the rim, while also playing solid defense.
Manav is a nice shooter on the perimeter, but also has the ability to get into the lane with dribble-drives.
Blum is solid defensively and rebounds well, while Eichenhauer is a great defender and will attack the rim on offense.
Jillian Monastero is an athletic player, who can shoot or get to the basket. Caitlin Pierce is “quick, aggressive and a nice defender,” according to Greenberg.
Miller was a top scorer and rebounder a year ago.
“She worked hard on improving strength,” Greenberg said. “She can score inside and shoot from the outside, and she is a good defender.”
Zuelch brings height at x-foot-x and a tough low-post defender.
Hart is another very athletic player, with a quick first step and is a strong rebounder.
Abbey Feckner has “nice post moves and is a good rebounder,” while Reese Witting is another post player who brings depth and is a inside-out scoring threat.
Caitlin Pierce, fresh.; Reese Witting, fresh.; Jillian Monster, soph.
“We have limited numbers throughout our whole program this season. We need to stay healthy throughout the year.”
“Ideally, we will be contending for a conference championship, but it will be tough to compete with Highland and Copley.”
