The athletic rivalry between Field and Mogadore has existed for decades.
Like any great rivalry, the hope is that the play on the field is competitive and fierce, but always ends with respect and appreciation.
The power of these rivalries is that the competition can build friendships and love. So that when one community is in need, the other is ready to step up.
In more difficult times, when a community is in mourning, the other is ready to deliver the love and support they need. The rivalry acts as a bridge between communities.
Tonight, for Mogadore’s Homecoming game, they have changed their theme to be a RED OUT “in honor of Field High School senior and football player Blake Sumego,” with instructions to “please wear red to show your support for Blake, his family, friends, classmates and the Falcon community.”
An amazing gesture of love and support from the Wildcats, showing that they view the rivalry in the highest respect.

For this late in the season, we are lucky and we will get to sit underneath the blanket of a beautiful fall night.
In one way, maybe it is the reward for sitting through rain-filled nights in Week 2 and Week 6.
We have all dried and warmed up from those and will get to watch football tonight in perfection.
At kickoff, the temperature will be about 68 degrees. By the fourth quarter, the temperature will sit around 62 degrees.
No rain in the forecast for the entire night.
Aurora, Streetsboro and Windham are still undefeated.
All three teams are 6-0.
All three are chasing league championships, while improving their playoff seedings at the same time.
What a special fall for football in these communities.
