The high school boys tennis preview for the 2025 spring season.
LEAGUE: Suburban League American Conference.
COACH: Vincent Cannata.
LAST YEAR: 17-4 record. Finished second in the American Division of the Suburban League.
RETURNING LETTERMEN: The Aurora Greenmen have six returning lettermen on their roster.
PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Aiden Eisner, Brennan Ries.
OUTLOOK FOR SEASON: “Even though Aurora lost four-year, No. 1 singles player Vinny Cannata, now playing for Baldwin Wallace, this team will be very competitive,” said Cannata. “We have a very well-rounded lineup, especially in doubles.”
LEAGUE: Metro Athletic Conference.
COACH: Scott Bower.
RETURNING LETTERMEN: Kaden Schrader, Logan Hobday.
SEASON OUTLOOK: ‘We have tons of newcomers and are very excited to grow and learn as the season continues,” said Bower.
LEAGUE: Suburban League American Conference.
COACH: Jessie Barr, 3rd year.
LAST YEAR: “The team finished tied for sixth in the final standings of the Suburban League American Conference after finishing sixth in the Suburban League Tournament,” said Barr.
RETURNING LETTERMEN: “After graduating seven seniors last season, we have three returning juniors, with returning letterwinner Mick Oldham.”
PROMISING NEWCOMERS: Four incoming freshmen, including young Alex Huang, who is in the mix for singles.
SEASON OUTLOOK: “With a tight-knit team of eight players, this will be a challenging year, with an emphasis on building for the future with our four freshman and four juniors.”
OFF THE COURT: “This team boasts a kaleidoscope of character with a collection of soccer athletes, swimmers, band kids and scholarly leaders many of whom are first time tennis players.”
Barr, along with her associate coach Teresa Livecchi, look forward to seeing their tennis skills and passion blossom over the course of the short season.
