Carson Letchworth has made history.

The Southeast High School senior is the first swimmer in school history to advance to the OHSAA’s state championships.

Letchworth qualified for the state finals in the 100-yard Butterfly on Thursday at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

The senior member of the Pirates varsity swim and dive team finished 25th in the state with a time of 54.25.

Letchworth is one of four Portage County athletes at the swimming and diving state championship in Canton, including Ella Houk of Kent Roosevelt who finished seventh in the one-meter dive; Aubrey Kennedy of Aurora finishing 15th in the 1-meter dive and Trinity Heath of Kent Roosevelt who competes on Saturday in the 100-yard freestyle.
