The Aurora High School boys soccer team will be playing for something special on Aug. 20.

For the program’s home opener against Madison, the Greenmen are partnering with Go4theGoal to host a “Lace Up for Pediatric Cancer Night.”

The Greenmen will wear gold socks and Madison has been invited to participate by wearing gold laces in their cleats.

All of the action is to bring awareness, while also acting as a fundraiser, for children who are battling cancer in the community.

On the Aurora boys soccer team’s fundraiser page, it states, “Having a child with cancer is a huge financial burden for many families and the pandemic made their individual situations even more dire. Please help us show these kids and their families that they don’t have to fight alone by making a donation to our page.”

All funds raised will be directly distributed to families to “provide financial assistance, fund innovative research, develop and implement unique hospital programs and granting personal wishes,” Aurora All Sports Boosters president Nykole Morgenroth said.
