The Aurora Greenmen may have surprised a few teams, winning the American Division by nine strokes over Medina Highland during Tuesday’s Suburban League Tournament No. 3.
The Greenmen fired a 317 team total and also claimed one of three medalists.
Kyle Lancaster was at the top of the leaderboard as an individual, along with Zach Butcher of Highland and Marco Silva of Barberton, all three firing one-over-par 71s at Windmill Lake Golf Club in Ravenna.
The Greenmen’s Jackson Sarver fired a 78 and Brady Allenick an 83. Gannon Brady and Wilson Brainard each fired 85s to put Aurora, coached by Gus Mehallis, in the lead.
Kent Roosevelt finished fifth by virtue of the fifth-man score as the Rough Riders tied with Revere.
Liam Curtis continued to among the best golfers in the American Division, carding a 73, good for fourth place behind the medalists.
This is the third of four tournaments for the American Division in the Suburban League. When the fourth tournament is completed at Goodpark Golf Course on Sept. 26, champions and individual honors will be announced.
