The 2024-25 Kent Roosevelt High School swimming and diving season preview.

Head Coach: Corey Spicer, fourth season for both girls and boys swimming teams. Assistant coaches are Carol Bender, Sarah Cook, Justin Barzellato, Nicholas Spicer and, for diving, Kameron MacLean.

Last Year: “Our girls and boys teams were undefeated, winning 11 matches. Both the girls and the boys won their league championships for the first time in the same year. The boys won the 2024 Akron Division II Boys Swimming/Diving Sectional championship,” said Spicer.

The Rough Riders also had seven girls district qualifiers and 11 boys district qualifiers, along with seven total state qualifiers (2 girls and 5 boys).

The boys 200 Medley Relay finished ninth in the state and broke Kent Roosevelt’s school record.

Returning Letterwinners (Suburban League Honors): Ella Houk, senior (League MVP); Trinity Heath, sophomore (League MVP); Coco Golden, sophomore (Second Team All-Suburban); Kate Ennemoser, junior (Second Team All-Suburban); Adam Springer, junior (Second Team All-Suburban); Jackson Puhalla, junior (Second Team All-Suburban); Kadin Pyka, sophomore (Second Team All-Suburban); Ellie Amodio, sophomore (Honorable Mention All-Suburban); Moses Hanson, junior (Honorable Mention All-Suburban).

Underclassmen to Watch: Kaelyn Bruner, Nicole Cornici, Molly Murphy, Sophia Richards, Jacey Stewart, Dominic Joseph, Miller Loeffler, Sam Love, Jayden Siciliano.

Season Expectations: “We are excited to get back to swimming fast again,” said Spicer. “Our young roster has a strong group of senior leaders to learn from and build on from their successes last year.

“I know both teams want to push to be back-to-back dual champions for the Suburban League again,” Spicer added. “This is an exciting time for our swimming program and we hope to keep that going. We currently have one diver who has committed to dive next year at Marshall University (Ella Houk).”
