The Rootstown girls bowling team won the Tri-County Division II sectional championship on Monday.

The Rootstown girls bowling team made a statement at the Division II Tri-County Sectional, earning a berth into the district tournament.

To get there, the Rovers won the sectional by 250 pins over runner-up qualifier Triway.

Four of the Rovers’ bowlers landed in the top 10 of the tournament, including Emma Day, bowling a 615 series with a 255 high game, good for the best series in the event.

The rest of the team included: Natalie Hammerschmidt (567), Maggie Frick (516), Payton Curall (542) and individual games rolled by Elli Campbell (180) and Kaitlyn Hammerschmidt (216).

Rootstown will be joined at the district by the Garfield girls, which earned the fourth — and final — qualifying spot.

Additional individual qualifiers included Alannah Raffa of Ravenna (513) and Abby Smith of Southeast (472).

The Division II district will be hosted at Rebman Lanes in Lorain on Feb. 24.
