The Streetsboro Rockets welcomed Coventry to Kent Lanes and split a match, with the Streetsboro girls earning a victory and the Rockets’ boys just missing a victory.
Streetsboro’s girls finished their match with 1,865 as Coventry put the games and Bakers together for a 1,469 final score.
The Rockets were led by Kendal Clark 188-345 and Natalia Southerland 209-335.
The Rockets’ boys lost 2,362 to 2,528 despite the efforts of Bentley Mrak’s 223-409 and Conner Stevens 229-404.
The Rovers earned a third-place finish at the annual G-Men Classic at Sky Lanes on Sunday.
Olivia Davies tossed a 226 game on her way to a 593 series, landing her on the All-Tournament Team with her fifth-place individual finish.
The Rovers’ girls are on a roll this week, owning a 2-0 record in the Portage Trail Conference competition and a 7-1 record overall.
Topping Lake Center Christian in a home match 2,230 to 1,650, the girls were led in the match by Cassie Egli 216-391, Olivia Davies 210-347 and Kaitlyln Hammerschmidt 180-343.
The team was consistent, with all bowlers earning two-game sets in the 300s, including Hailie Furry 172-310 and Emma Day 162-320.
The Andy Day-coached team is looking forward to the postseason tournaments.
The Rootstown Rover boys improved their record to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the Portage Trail Conference with a victory over Lake Center Christian at Spins Bowl in Kent.
It was a hard-fought battle, with the Rovers coming out on top 2,693 to 2,321.
Rootstown’s Sean Boveington put together two outstanding games of 266 and 248 for a 514 series, with Caleb Stevens bowling a 254-428 and Nick Moorehead a 212-423.
Earlier in the week, the Rovers beat Field 2,554 to 2,433.
In a rare occurrence, Rootstown was down by 50 pins in the first game of the match, but bounced back to win the second game and each of the Baker games in head-to-head competition.
“Field has a nice young team,” said Rovers mentor Thom Butcher.
Field’s best was bowled by Peyton Hover, with games of 217-216 433, and Joe Dilworth tossing a 213-389.
For the Rovers, Justin Miller had the high game of 278 on his way to a 509 series and Nick Moorehead bowled a 222-432.
The Rootstown Rovers Sectional Preview Tournaments are set for this Saturday and Sunday with Division-I teams bowling on Saturday and Division-II teams bowling on Sunday.
The Division-I tournament is sold out, but there are still a few lanes available for the D-II.

DIVISION II: East Canton, Rootstown A and B, Ravenna, Coventry, Canton Central Catholic, Woodridge, Crestwood, Champion, Lutheran West, Brooklyn, Field and Villa Angela St. Joe.
